Just put this one in the trifling people files. A woman turned herself in to police after a video popped into social media showing her stealing $13 from a 10-year old girl. The little girl went into a beauty supply store to shop for her grandmother. The girl placed her money on the counter when another woman (Tanika Stephenson) came to the counter to buy something.
The camera then caught Stephenson putting the money into her pocket while the little girl was looking in the other direction. Police put the video on their YouTube channel, where it got thousands of hits. Many of the viewers knew who the woman was and told police because they were so angry with her. Some even sent her Facebook and email information to police.
Stephenson said that she got a bunch of phone calls from people that were not “very pleasant.” She has been booked in the City jail on one count of theft.
“It is very refreshing to have our citizens call Crime Stoppers to identify this suspect who stole money from a child and I applaud those tipsters who declined a possible reward for their information,” said Sergeant Jim Taliaferro.
