A woman’s misfortune at her own funeral has led to an $80,000 payment to her family. Ellnora James was 67 years old when she died, and her family was already grieving. The grief was only compounded when funeral workers dropped her casket and let her body roll to the ground.
The funeral, which took place in Grand Rapids, was obviously brought to a standstill and observers were shocked at what they saw.
Oddly enough, the Ivy K. Gillespie Funeral Home is denying that the woman’s body ever fell out of the casket. But this leads to the obvious question: If it didn’t happen, then why did you write the family a check for $80,000?
The family says that the casket was pulled out of the Hearse and then fell to break open, with the woman’s body falling out to the ground. Some of the embalming fluid also came out of her clothes and her glasses were never put back on her face.
Her son, Dean Libbett also said that the funeral home didn’t put the woman in the casket that they’d requested. Just shady.
