The naked man whose body washed up on the sand in Flagler Beach was shot to death, police say.

Although the cause of death has been determined, Flagler Beach Police Chief Dan Cody said, the man’s identity is still a mystery.

The man is described as a white male that weighs 150 pounds. He is 6-foot 2, between 50 and 60 years old with “salt and pepper hair” and brown eyes.

“He was possibly dumped from a vessle at sea,” Cody said.

Cody added that a sketch that police hope will help to identifying the man will be released soon.

Beachgoers found the body just after 11 p.m. Friday and called 911. Police got the body ashore and called the medical examiner to the scene.

“The medical examiner came down and checked the body and said there was trauma to the head,” Cody said Saturday.

Police think the man was in the water between three and five days.

He has no tattoos, scars or other identifying marks.

Anyone with information about who the man is and the circumstances surrounding his death is asked to call the Flagler Beach Police Department at (386) 517-2023.
