A shrimp-boat captain got a surprise when he found a prosthetic leg while fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, but its unique designs helped to track down the owner.
Fisherman Matt Willingham went to the media and contacted the manufacturer about finding a leg that was painted with the University of Kentucky logo and the team’s Wildcat mascot.
Fred Robinson, a former University of Kentucky running back in the 1980s, told WKYT-TV in Lexingtonthat he was shocked when he found out someone found his personalized $30,000 prosthetic leg.
Robinson, who now lives in Florida, said he lost the prosthetic while swimming during Memorial Dayweekend. He said he plans to thank the fisherman for recovering the prosthetic.
UPDATE: In proof that happy endings do happen, the leg has been returned to its owner. And the choir said amen.
