Things are getting more and more real during the Great Recession.  Pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans was attacked and carjacked in Detroit on Wednesday at a gas station on the west side of the troubled city.   The attack occurred in the Afternoon, and the assailants fled with Winan’s cash and his SUV.

The 54-year old pastor was followed by four men who followed him inside the gas station and then attacked him while he was pumping the gas.   He wasn’t seriously hurt, but did require medical attention.

“I’m just saddened that it has come to this,” Winans told the Associated Press. “This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”

Pastor Winans is the head of the Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side, which has 4,500 members.  He gave the eulogy for singer Whitney Houston earlier this year.
