The Civil War is over. The South lost. And that Confederate flag is treasonous. Those are the facts. But some in the South continue to relive the days of antebellum in their hearts, and pass that misplaced pride onto their kids.

This is what must’ve happened to Texanna Edwards who, in all her non-existent wisdom, decided to make a Confederate flag prom dress. To Texanna’s shock, she was turned away from her prom at the door when she arrived in a Confederate flag dress.

The 18 year old said she was surprised that she wasn’t allowed to attend the prom considering that the school often allows students to wear clothes and jewelry with the Confederate symbol.

“They looked at me and said, ‘You can’t go in because your dress is offensive and might start something,’” Edwards told WREG News.

School officials said that they feared the dress might cause controversy.
