The pastor of the St. John Fisher Church in Pittsburgh was arrested this week on a charge of possessing child pornography.  Detectives said that Rev. Bartley A. Sorensen admitted to using his computer to view at  least 100 images of young boys.  His bail was set at $100,000 and he is being required to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Father Ronald Lengwin, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, said that when they received a report of his behavior, they immediately told the police and removed Father Sorensen from active ministry.

“There were no previous allegations against him,” said Father Lengwin.

The behavior was reported by Monica Fisher, an office employee at St. John Fisher Church.  She called the Catholic Child Abuse Hotline after she saw the pastor viewing images of young boys.  She said the words “Hottie Boys” were at the top of the screen and the image was that of a boy 5 – 10 years old, naked from the waist down.

That is when police got a search warrant and the father was busted.  This is only the most recent case of sexual misconduct out of the state of Pennsylvania involving young boys.  Penn State University is being sued for millions for looking the other way while one of their football coaches, Jerry Sandusky, was allegedly engaging in sexual activity with young boys in his charity.
