Terrell Owens prepared for a big workout that was set to wow the world and show that he’s ready to return to the field. He set up with television cameras and all to show his stuff at Calabasas High School, just six months after getting surgery on his ACL. One problem Terrell- not one NFL team showed up to watch.
Lindsay Soto of the NFL Network, was attending the workout live, and says that no teams came to see Owens little tryout. Drew Rosenhaus, Owens’ agent, said that he would send the tapes to every NFL team. But at the age of 38, some wonder if Owens’ best days are behind him. Given that he is also having financial trouble, things might only get worse.
“I feel good, this is actually shorter than what I’ve been going the last couple weeks, so I feel good,” Owens said after the workout was over. “It’s been challenging from a physical standpoint to get my knee back to where it needs to be for me to have the confidence to go out here to run and cut.
“This is what I’ve been training for. I’m not worried about the naysayers saying I’m wasting my time — I think what I showed today speaks for itself.”
During the workout, Owens wore a t-shirt that said, “I am Ready!” He took passes from quarterback Casey Hansen.
“I still think he’s a couple of months away from being NFL football-ready,” said Heath Evans, an analyst for the NFL network.
Although Owens tends to come with a crazy media following and has been known to be temperamental on the field, he is also one of the best receivers in NFL history. It is speculated that TO could end up with a team that needs a veteran receiver to mentor the young guys. So, we might get a year or two out of Owens before he turns 40. Let’s hope he saved his money.
